Day 15 – Celebrate the Small Stuff

Yes, it’s weigh-in day, and a happy one for me. At the end of Week 2, I’m five pounds down. I think I mentioned in an earlier blog, I have been trying to lose some weight since December. Had a long talk with my doctor and tried to work out some issues with meds and what-not. But every conversation comes back to weight. I didn’t really try a specific diet at that point, I just tried to be careful about carbs. I was busy during the holidays, so getting a little more exercise. As it turned out, I did lose some weight. So … this is my 117 Pound Journey … and to that end I’ve lost 5 lbs. But in reality, since December I’ve lost 19 pounds. And that feels pretty good. Now comes the harder work … staying with it!

It seems like every time I feel a great deal of success, I also feel a greater desire to snack. In my mind it’s as though I can afford a cheat. That isn’t how it should work!! I know I have to keep my focus going in the right direction. I struggle with this. And I didn’t do a very good job today. So I’m posting today’s menu, but I didn’t follow it entirely. In full disclosure, I added a pita at lunch, an extra jerky snack this afternoon, and some frozen yogurt after dinner. That’s a lot of cheats, and I hang my head. I’ll do better tomorrow.
