There is pounding and banging and people coming and going… the construction has begun! We chose this house because of the open floor plan and the opportunity to have a second en-suite bedroom. This involves taking out a wall and, of course, adding a bathroom. I have a hard time trusting the people who do in-home work as we had some pretty negative experiences in our condo in Denver. Very mediocre workmanship in some cases, people not showing up, etc., but these guys were on-the-spot at 6:30 AM and are working away. First thing to be done is removing tile, carpet baseboards, light fixtures… and start the demo of the wall. Yikes. The BEFORE…
On another front, we’re set to hit in the 100’s all week and over 110 next week. Am I excited about this? Not so much. I had a bit of a meltdown last night (both literally and figuratively). We have to figure out how to manage our indoor temperatures while not running our utility bill over the top. It’s not like we weren’t aware of the heat… we got warnings from everyone. Did we know HOW hot it gets? Have we lived in THIS kind of heat? Are we prepared for the inferno of July and August? Well… yes, no, and I don’t know. I’ve probably already said that the funny part about this is that I really don’t do well in heat. And yes, I can mostly just stay in air conditioning. But you do have to come and go from your car. And it is HOT. It’s not like we’re moving again, so I it’s adjust and whine about like everyone else, I guess.
Many, many years ago I flew to Vegas in July. There was a problem at the airport and we had to deplane on the tarmac. It was 117 degrees at 10pm. I stepped onto the portable steps… and fainted. Yep, that’s my friendship with heat. Good grief.
Looks like we will close on our condo sale on the 30th. Looking forward to that!
