Warming Up

Yes… I know… we moved to Arizona. And it’s warm here. Well, actually, I would describe it as hot. Throughout our roommate lives, Carol and I have had different HVAC needs… me=air conditioner, she=heater. We’ve always tried to balance, but I can only take off so much clothing and still be in public. This is going to be an interesting time. The good news is, once our renovation is done, one of us can always go cool down/heat up in the casita.

And speaking of the renovation, things should be starting soon. We signed the contract for the landscaping/pool today and we have a walk-through with the inside project manager on Monday. Hopefully, by the end of summer all will be done and we’ll be completely unpacked, moved in, decorated, and comfortable.

The experience of packing and unpacking has lots ups and downs, most notably the broken things in the ‘downs’ category. There are always broken things. But sadly, there have been some big ones this time. Oh, not big in size or even in the scheme of things, just things that mean something to me. I had a beautiful Lennox Santa and Sleigh; I’ve had them forever. Originally there were also six reindeer, but those were long ago broken. The packers were supposed to move them to a “safely packed” box. That didn’t happen. They got crushed… and so am I. Then this morning, I dropped a cup and saucer from my collection. And, of course, it was my absolute favorite. There are so many other things that could’ve broken and I wouldn’t have cared a bit. But, no.
