A Quiet Day in St. Germaine en Laye

We’re moored at Le Pecq …. (you can check it out on google maps)

We decided rather than doing the touristy Paris-on-a-bus gig – which we’ve both done before – we decided we’d explore the town here. What a great decision!

We wandered the streets, visited a small church (really admired the altar and stained glass), made our way through narrow paths, and enjoyed the provincial nature of this town. We stopped at a brasserie and had a tea, explored a local grocery store which has everything (literally everything) but cosmetics and medicine, and then Carol went on to make the steep climb to a chateau. And when I say steep, think no knees left at the end – she took the shortcut and that was 30 steps straight up – pic 3 is just one set. I did not continue on 🙄   Check out pic 4 – that’s Paris in the distance.

And now we are underway – headed to Giverny – which is north. We just happen to be going south at the moment. The ship is too long to turn, mid river, at Le Pecq. So we are headed south and now waiting our turn to go through a loch. After that, they’ll turn her and head north … back through the loch, plus two more lochs during the night, until we hit Giverny at approximately 6:00 AM. Funny news? Giverny is about a 2 hour drive from Paris.

And about those life jackets … do we look great, or what?!
