Day 150 – Re-set

Everything about long term dieting is probably related to re-sets, and re-evaluation, and re-commitment … an endless parade of re’s. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Looking at what’s working and what is not, is pretty important as I look to the future of my dieting success.

Check one – the plan

I decided to give a careful look to what parts of the plan aren’t working and what is working well. First food – what foods am I simply ignoring or avoiding, for example. And there are a few. In particular … the dairy products I have left. I pretty much eliminated dairy, but was still trying to include yogurt and string cheese. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to be able to find lactose-free yogurt in the stores anymore. That’s a drag for moi! But I’m going to look for an alternative to yogurt. I’ve also taken a bit of a detour on salads. It has more to do with stomach ailment than choice, but I do need to get back onto the “two-salads-a-day” schedule!

The other thing I’ve been ignoring is the evening snack. I either don’t have it or I eat something else. I think it’s just a choice and discipline issue. The evening snacks never seem very appealing. I’ll just have to bite the bullet and get back to the commitment of following the diet. I’ve definitely let myself slip a bit.

We also haven’t been very creative in our food preparation. The diet is pretty repetitive, and we haven’t really used any of the recipe alternatives included with the diet, especially for dinner. I need to take a bit of time and go over those recipes and see what sounds appealing … I’ll share later.

As you know, my exercise plan has taken a hit recently. I did go to the pool today and was able to do nearly all of my workout. But my steps remain under 3000, and that’s not good.

I came home this morning prepared to re-assert the “walk with intention” part of the plan. FitBit beeps me every hour – and I’m talking a walk from the  front door to my bedroom and back, twice, with each FitBit reminder. I’ll be interested to see how that adds up.

Check two – pain

Acupuncture seems to be helping abate the pain. I’ll go for my third session today!

So …

REview the menues

REevaluate foods

REaffirm all aspects of the plan

REpeat successes

REcommit to getting this done!
