Day 46 – Depriving

Losing weight is not about removing whole food groups or eating as little as possible, but sometimes it feels like that. I’ve tried trendy diets, packaged diets, group weight-loss, and practically starving. What I like about this diet is that I don’t have to deprive myself. There is no need to. I can eat many foods I like and still lose weight – it works. But I also do have to give up some of my favorites. This time, that’s a bigger problem than I thought it might be. Some diet bloggers say don’t use a diet that has strict eating rules. I don’t see a way around that. But I sure do miss my “favorite foods.”

I guess it really means that I must be intentional with my food. New Mantra: At all times – Think Before You Eat. I know, I know, this is a good thing – must remember my own words: just trust the diet! When I take time to think about my menu ahead of time, I can also occasionally figure out how to fit in a special treat. I forget that. I know how many calories I may have in a day in order to lose weight. And since My Fitness Pal tracks it, the best and only way to eat intentionally is to follow the diet roadmap and to track my food.

I’m feeling kind of stressed today about my plan and being successful with it. Everyone has been so supportive and kind, so I should feel good about it. But I have a lot of anxiety about not being able to get it done. I’m prone to stressing anyway, so I know that doesn’t help. But for some reason, I think I’m worse about this. When we first moved to Denver, there were certainly a lot of new challenges, but I didn’t feel this kind of stress. I don’t know if it’s just about dieting, but it feels very much like job stress (except that I don’t have to work 14 hours a day at school). Time to find some relaxation strategies.

Updates:

  • Did not get 2500 steps yesterday, but trying for today!
  • Good workout at the pool, although did end with some pain. Possibly from adding the new parts, or just did something weird. Who knows?
  • Still not sleeping well and do not have an answer to this. I come home from the pool and reel completely exhausted. Napping required.
  • Looking forward to dinner, it’s turkey 😉
