Day 36 – Oh What a Beautiful Morning

Diet Log: Day 36

I woke up this morning singing songs from Oklahoma … what is that about?! Unfortunately the waking up part did not happen on schedule. I forgot to set my alarm after my intended “sleep in” on Friday. Good grief! I woke at 3:30, and thought, “oh good, I have another hour,” which turned into four hours. But, no chastising. Nope, not beating myself up about this. Nor am I going to heap guilt on my shoulders for today’s weigh-in – I lost no pounds this week. Okay, I have a bit of a frowny-face. I already acknowledged that I took liberties on the plan last week. And this just makes it ever so clear that I simply can’t do that if I’m going to meet my long-term goal. Failure isn’t always a good motivator, but seeing the flat-line did make me give myself a little, “straighten up and fly right” lecture (thanks Mom).

I had a well-behaved day yesterday as far as total calories, but diverted from the lunch menu. Didn’t I already say that a person can do anything for just one day? So, it’s back to one day at a time for me, doing what I’m supposed to be doing.

I do have to share a funny thing about my Fitbit reports. For those of you who haven’t done anything with Fitbit … when you put in your days foods and exercise, you get a report that tells you how much you’ll weigh in five weeks, if you do all as you did that day. From day to day, mine varies as much as 10 pounds. It always makes me laugh. I think it’s supposed to make me feel motivated to keep going. But it doesn’t really do that for me because it varies so greatly from day to day. One day I’m thinking, wow! and the next day, what?! I intend to go through one full week of “on the plan” eating. We’ll see what Fitbit has to say next Monday!

  1. My Fitbit is psychotic. It tells me lies. I know it does. Five weeks from now – and I’ll weigh some imaginary number without having lost anything for two weeks. Not helpful and not motivating. Just let that little &:$:$!! Needle goes down instead of same same same!!!!!
    End of vent.
